Born and raised in metro Atlanta, George received a bachelor’s degree in American history and comparative government from the University of Virginia.
Upon commissioning as an officer in the United States Marine Corps, George attended Tulane University School of Law while simultaneously serving as a judge advocate in the Selected Marine Corps Reserve. He was admitted to practice law in Georgia in 2011, but has been practicing before military courts-martial under the supervision of attorneys since 2008.
During his eight years of active duty, Major Stamps served as civil law attorney, trial counsel, defense counsel, deputy staff judge advocate, international trial observer, military justice instructor, installation staff secretary, company commander, and executive officer on installations throughout the United States, Japan, Australia, and the Philippines.
Defending over fifty clients facing military court-martial, George secured seven full acquittals and dozens of “no basis” decisions and honorable discharge characterizations following administrative separation hearings. While in the Philippines, Captain Stamps worked with the U.S. State Department to negotiate the detention, trial, and eventual release in 2020 of a Marine accused of murder while deployed to that country.
Transferring from active duty back to the reserves in 2019, George earned a Masters of Law in Banking and Financial Services from Boston University School of Law, graduating salutatorian with a 4.0+ grade point average.
During the 2020-2021 coronavirus pandemic, George was recalled to military duty and served as the operations officer for a specialized coronavirus task force conducting quarantine operations on the East Coast for nine months.
George currently works out of his law office in Marietta, Georgia as a sole practitioner while also serving as General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer for fintech startup Tern Commerce Inc.
